Terms of Service for HackQuest

1. The Service

HackQuest is an educational game that teaches cybersecurity concepts through simulated, gamified challenges. All challenges run within the app in a controlled, fictional environment. The app is provided for learning and entertainment purposes only.

2. Educational Use Only

The cybersecurity techniques, scenarios, and content in HackQuest are for educational purposes only. You agree to use the knowledge gained solely for lawful and ethical purposes. You must not use anything learned in the app to access, attack, disrupt, or interfere with any computer system, network, account, or data that you do not own or have explicit written permission to test. Unauthorized access to computer systems is illegal in most jurisdictions, and you are solely responsible for your own actions.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to use the app. By using HackQuest you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use HackQuest for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the app except as permitted by law.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• Attempt to disrupt or compromise the integrity or security of the app;
• Use the app to harm, harass, or infringe the rights of others;
• Apply techniques demonstrated in the app against real systems without authorization.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, graphics, and trademarks in HackQuest are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app, including any misuse of techniques learned through the app. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using the app.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, the license granted to you ends and you must stop using the app.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable consumer protection and data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where relevant. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
